Stingy "All You Can Eat"

[thanks andu for being the only fan of my blog! ^^... I feel appreciated =). Got some grumbles today though. Hui]

After hearing the faint noises of my brother toasting bread and leaving to tuitor, I subconsciously looked at my alarm clock thinking "What am I doing? It hasn't even sounded yet and I'm already half awake... ...". It read 9:07. Eventually, in my subconsciousness, I remebered the exciting event of the day- ALL YOU CAN EAT DIM SUM AT RISING SUN CHINESE RESTAURANT! I immediately jumped out of bed (rather sluggishly though...) and started to get ready for this exciting outing with some friends- who eventually turned out only to be Joel, Tong and Elliot. It was still an enjoyable gathering for lunch, but the mega-grumble of the day is of the actual "all you can eat" part of this buffet lunch.

So, "all you can eat". You would think the place would be offering dim sum at the usual pace, the usual amount and usual service. Today- the exact opposite. It was only $11 for the day's lunch; and it seems like this place was trying really hard to retain profits while organising this exciting connotation of "all you can eat". WHATEVER. After waiting for about half an hour, I finally received my egg tarts just before we all decided to leave. We stayed there for about 2 hours and I didn't even get the opportunity to try all the dishes that I liked! Felt so cheated... was so angry during that lunch period.

My grumble today isn't as extreme as it can be, because I was with good company and one of the waitresses was very friendly to our table and tried as hard as she could to get us our orders. Other than that, it was horrible. I was initiating a Fight To Death battle with one of the waitresses, but Tong kept on trying to fight me in her place. That was actually really funny... =)... but... I guess I did get my egg tarts in the end, so... still somewhat comtempt.

Also, during the evening, my lil bro came over to do some hip hop with me. He was so enthusiastic and studious, it was really cute... we had an awesome time. Hehe... bro, keep up the good work yeah? XD

Funny Conversations

[Hehe... this week... been having funny conversations wif mah frenz... ehe... enjoy! Hui]

#1
Talking to Andu Thursday morning. He was so stoned the day before that he did the most... most... unimaginable thing that morning. He was trying to make coffee for obvious reasons. He reached for a coffee packet and without second thoughts, tore it open, as well as the sachet inside the plastic packaging and threw the whole content into a cup. After the water finally boiled, he poured the boiling hot water into the cup and started stirring the solution. What's so funny about all this though? Rather normal right? Here comes the good part =P. The problem with making this coffee was that, this sachet was the type where you simply place in the cup and pour hot water into to let the coffee inside the papery packaging to seep flavour through. The whole purpose of the packaging was for you to enjoy good coffee without the grinds left in the cup! Andu... what were you thinking?? XD Hehehe... can't imagine anyone making more trouble for themselves whilst trying to make coffee. New record hey?

#2
Talking to Andrew today. My hat goes down for this guy- he has been having ham and tuna sandwiches since the start of school. That means so far, 21 weeks worth of the same sandwiches every single school day! I don't know how he puts up with the same things all the time, we need variety to live! =P... Anyway, today at recess, he grabbed his sandwich and started munching on it like usual. I was trying to guess which sandwich it was- the ham one or the tuna one. This is what happened:

"Haha... tuna again?"
"No... this one's the ham one."
"But don't you usually have the tuna one at recess?"
"I'm trying to have variety OK? *says this passionately*"
"HAHAHA... OK... that's cool..."

... and the conversation moved on to the fact that he didn't have glad wrap and had to use sandwich wraps. Man... love this guy's sense of humour.

Hehe... today Dez said some funny things too... but the post is getting too long now. I feel like going to bed now anyway, another long but enjoyable day up ahead tomorrow! Dance teacher's finally back, some proper lessons are up! Can't wait!

Miss Maud's VS Blood Donation

[today was AWESOME... heehee... did some fun things... meaningful things. hui hui]

1
Lunch with mother at Garden City, at Miss Maud's. GAWD DAT STUFF's GOOOOOD. Mum had to do something at Garden City; and she promised me once that she'll take me to try out what Miss Maud's has to offer. I thought today would be quite a fine day, since it was the last day of the 2 week break and since we shall be at that convenient venue anyway. So, we sit down and stare at the laminated piece of paper in front of us.
"Exciting Sandwiches", "Boring Sandwiches", "Open Sandwiches"... 4 columns worth of food titles. Talk about selection! So extremely excited as I was, I decided on "Crab "Simmage"" as my main course (while I shared Mum's scones as entree, teehee!) and "Mudcake" with ice cream for dessert. I cannot even begin to describe what a great meal I had... it was simply... wordless? (like priceless...?) Enjoying great food and chatting with Mum was excellent; and the service was great, atmosphere serene- the life.

2
Right after the scrumptous brunch, it was time to meet Andrew at school. Today is the designated day for the 6 of us | Andrew, Joseph, Buzz, Ruth, Mei and myself | to donate blood as part of our school youth blood drive. We all met up, anxious and nervous (maybe it was just me...) and boarded the mini-van provided by Red Cross to go to the donating station in the city. Everything went well, everyone donated something (except Mei though... she helped us take photos though!) and I finished donating my 470 mLs in 8 minutes 24 seconds. It was AWESOME! The whole experience, the equipment, the people, the food, the company... everything was simply great.

Now... blogging before I go early to bed, ready to start school all over again. The break has been good, it's time to work again. Looking forward to the last term of school and looking back at today, at the end on the verge of a new beginning.

40 Hour Famine

[appreciating food man... oohhh... the nice, awesome food... mnmnmn.. doughnuts. hui]

Thursday- 7pm | Saturday 11am = 40 Hour Famine = nothing goes into mouth except plain water for 40 hours.

Saturday morning was the worse part of the whole thing... but at 11am, I finally bought my first beverage in the city- which was Iced Mocha Frappe and my first meal was Fish Burger Combo. Ahhh... the greatness of food! The superiority of food! I LIVE not only to dance... but also to EAT! ^^... at night, went out with my dancing gals, and we had ALL YOU CAN EAT SUSHI for dinner at Jaws! Oh, the beautiful sushi! The taste in my mouth! Appreciation does take experience though... the saddest part about all this.

Other than that... today I finished selling the flower bulbs for fundraising! After 3 days of door-to-door, back breaking child labour, I finally finished selling the 2 boxes. Man, the relief. Man, just thinking about the trip to China! Can't wait! ^^... it should take place next year, around this time. Hope we get enough funds by then!

Holidays are coming to an end. I shall be donating blood tomorrow | A period 0 test on Tuesday | UMAT on Wednesday | Japanese oral tuition on Thursday | Year 10, 11, 12 assembly on Friday | Dance on Saturday (and hopefully badminton). ^^... only Sunday's free?

Horoscopes and the like

[man... yesterday was awesome fun! Hehe... read some interesting fun facts too... =P. Cherades, food, sleepover, man... the life. Hui Hui]

Horoscopes. Zodiacs. Feng Shui. Voodoo Dolls. Curses. Potions. Spells. Superstition.

Despite not believing in horoscopes, many of us read it; despite not believing in voodoo dolls, many of us are afraid of them anyway; despite not believing in spells and potions, we still stay away. I guess it's inevitable that we somewhat find these things "unoffendable", for the sake of our own peace at mind.

I like to read my daily horoscope on Friendster, as it is convenient and usually really interesting. When one's horoscope does apply to one that day, one may feel surprisingly happy, or unhappy, as one's feelings or thoughts have just been read and exposed by some stranger. How do they foresee horoscopes anyway? The study of the starts, planets, surroundings... legitimate? I've always wondered about that.

Spells and potions were popular in my childhood. Just playing around like the friendly witches in some children's book, mixing up flower petals and water, hoping to make some sort of potion to make some spell. Ahh... those fun times. Witches were prosecuted, they were deemed evil and incorrect- suppose main stream assimilation overrides everything else huh?

Do you just read horoscopes for the sake of reading it for interest? Do you believe it somewhat? Would you allow someone to make a voodoo doll of yourself despite not believing in things like that? Science... it's definitely not enough to explain what the creative human mind can accomplish. Not now, anyway.

Stir Fry of today's Random Thoughts and Findings

[hehe... juz found some random things to post today. juz random bits and pieces chucked together. hui hui]

- February Baby -

Abstract thoughts. Loves reality and abstract. Intelligent and clever. Changing personality. Attractive. Sexiest out of everyone. Temperamental. Quiet, shy and humble. Honest and loyal. Determined to reach goals. Loves freedom. Rebellious when restricted. Loves aggressiveness. Too sensitive and easily hurt. Gets angry really easily but does not show it. Dislikes unnecessary things. Loves making friends but rarely shows it. Horny. Daring and stubborn. Ambitious. Realizing dreams and hopes. Sharp. Loves entertainment and leisure. Romantic on the inside not outside. Superstitious and ludicrous. Spendthrift. Tries to learn to show emotions.

Sound like me...? Hehe... quiet, shy and humble; tries to learn to show emotions?... =S

- Realizations -

1 When you walk past old people, they usually have a really shocked look on their face that doesn't wipe off.
2 Car wash machines are awesome, but in the last stage, they don't blow dry properly.
3 I really need to start doing homework. Keep putting it off. Not good.
4 Swimming in public pools is ABSOLUTELY gross- especially when you find what's on the bottom of the pool.
5 When there's a will, there's seriously a way.
6 TV is such a good companion.
7 SMS takes skill.
8 Rob works at a cafe in Garden City. SOMYGAWD.
9 Branded and non-branded- man, the price difference for the exact same thing!
10 Talking the talk and not walking the walk is seriously, seriously not the way.

Spending Time with Mum

[Past 2 days have been great... been spending lotsa time wif mom... and frenz...=P... love it. Hui]

Wednesday- Garden City shopping spreeeeeeee! (WITH MOM)
Thursday- mini Bunnings shopping spree + city trip! (WITH MOM)

Ahhh... the beautiful relaxing holidays. So much time and so much to do, but so less effort put into getting things done- it seems like there's simply so much time in hand. Anyway, with this much time and this little amount of effort, I decided to work on the social side of things. Spending time with family- especially Mom. Spending time with bro? Nahh... =P... he's cool and all, just... it's a once-in-a-while thing to spend time with him outside the household, but with Mom... it's different.

Wednesday's shopping spree had a rocky start, but in the end it was extremely enjoyable and fun. It made me realise the time gap in which it was all about my studies, studies, studies, where Mom didn't really come into the picture. Upsetting. At least we've caught up on things, communicated, shared, strengthened our bond. Today was another bonding day (^^) and the time spent with Mom is seriously priceless.

Guess I could sum it all up in a sentence... Mom's my best friend. Despite the ups and downs, despite the frustration and tension that is generated from time to time, despite the disagreements and arguments, Mom's simply irreplacable, and it is impossible to express my appreciation for her in words.

Maybe I could paint a picture, as it's worth a thousand words? But then, I would have to paint A LOT of pictures =P

Sweet sweet couples

[today was awesome... went out wif some gd frenz... did relli azn stuff... and ... well ... it wasn't that bad =P... hui]

Hearing the alarm. Look. 9:10. Don't remember what song was on. My alarm's the radio, on Nova 93.7. Yeah.

Got up, worked out, changed. Didn't bother dressing up much, made a little effort. Wore pearl necklace. ^^. Caught the bus, met Zahin and Stef on it. Didn't have seat close to them. Sat behind some cute old couple, who both had white hair. Listened to MP3, looked at beautiful clouds, excellent weather. Yeah.

Met up with Eddie and Ness, then Dim Sum for lunch. YUM. Fried squid. Prawn dumplings. BBQ pork bun. YUM. Later, DDR. So Azn. Met up with Matt and Jen. Played a few games, sucked. Not cool. Some guy came along and played too, pretty good. Eddie and Zahin rocks too much though. No one could beat them. Fun. Bought bubble tea. Watermelon snow with chocolate sago. YUM. Ness doesn't eat much. Neither does Stef. Probably why they're so skinny. Mnnmn. Went back to Timezone. Took neoprints. Very lovely. Yeah.

Karaoke for 2 hours. Expensive. Overcharging Utopia. Bum. Fun though. Mucked around, and sang seriously. Matt and Jen left early. Oh well. Went to Shoe Show. Not that cheap. Not that many awesome shoes anyway. Doesn't matter. Yeah.

Came home. Didn't get to meet potential european boy. Shame. No fun. Fun with friends. Felt left out sometimes, all in pairs, except. Oh well. Day was great, people were awesome and activities were relaxing, enjoyable, exciting. Not too bad. Not in sweet sweet couples club. Maybe I'll meet that potential next time. So Azn today, wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Probably because the people were great. Yeah.

1st Poker Victory- Frenz

[nmnmnm... rode to the city agen today... and shopped for a few hours. Bought some pretti awesome stuff... and Jess was awesome at her first attempt in riding that distance... XD... well done Jess! cheers, Hui hui]

Right now...

*Feeling- tired, happy, bored, calm, lucky.
*Atmosphere- relaxing, under dim yellow light, own private space with backgrnd noises, at Ken's house.
*Thinking- the tranquility of holidays, the great feeling of having company at a little past midnight, soothing music that sounds great at the moment, excitement building towards the soccer final.
*Hoping- to not fall asleep during the match, to get enough sleep ready for another fun day tomorrow, to make good decisions, to not be such a loner.

Won my first game of poker tonight... against Ken and Andu. Quite fun, quite exciting, quite thrill seeking... after a long hard day of physical exercise. The day started at 9am, when I met Jess at the last bus stop at Bull Creek Dr. We then set off on our exciting quest- riding to the city. Jess's bike was slightly faulty... and changed gears by itself when it felt like it... =S... quite worrying. We did get there safely an hour later, which was an extremely good effort on Jess's part... first time to the city on 2 wheels! ^^

After a scrumptuos breakfast of blueberry and black cheery pancakes at the Carillion Pancake House, we set off on our second quest- shopping. We went straight to the budget paradise, Harbour Town. We each bought 3 items, I bought tops while Jess bought assorted tops and a bottom. All at very good prices... which was the satisfying part about shopping there. =) ... retail therapy... gals, we all need it sometimes!

At about 3.30pm, we decided to head out on our third quest- the ride back home, under the unpredictable dark sky. We did get slightly wet... but the Mt Henry Bridge saved the day. Jess was really tired on the way back, but it was altogether an extremely good effor that she put in, and I'm so glad that she spent the day with me. It was a great day, and she was the greatest company- what more could I ask for? =)

Right now...

I'm at Ken's house, ready to watch the soccer final with Ken, Andu and Bellez. We finished a game of poker not long ago... which I won with A LOT of luck. ... does luck exist? =)

All in all, today was simply great ... having all these lovely people around me, spending time with them... feels so much better than winning poker. (even though the win was awesome =P)

Opportunities

[not dat happi today... all was gud till nite time... hui]

What started out as a good day, in the end ended up in tears. Tears of frustration, of being misunderstood, of being powerless, of being... I don't know anymore. Everything is now as good as before, but a few hours ago, the world seemed to bear its weight upon me, solely.

What triggered this stream down my face was- a big part of my life, dance. On top of all the stress a Yr 12 stressed stuffed stoodent has to go through, I now also have to give up one of my passions in life. Luckily, not entirely. After being accused of dancing for the money and accused of not using my time wisely, I guess it has now become inevitable that I stop going to one of my dance classes, for the sake of my studies. Studies. I'm not sure how I should respond to that word now, but ultimately, it is quite important and has been one of the top priorities of my life so far.

What happened to the balance that we're encouraged? What happened to the music, the fun, the relaxation? Is yoga in school enough? Is dancing twice a week really too much?

What with the tests, UMAT, exams coming up... I'll have to give in. Opportunities are endless, and I took my chance... I guess I took my best shot at it... but... prioritising sometimes... just has to end in tears.

Hui Hui ^^b
